The solid mahogany with a carved maple top that looks absolutely stunning under the Trans Red finish. The figuring on the maple top catches the light beautifully, giving it a subtle 3D effect. This one’s in great shape, with some top layer scratches on the top and one to note is the finish chip at the control bottom curve, the rear has some small indents and top layer scratches but nothing major. but no dings etc—an easy 8.8/10.
Rings like a bell acoustically and plug it in, and the 490R and 498T pickups absolutely roar. The hardware is all original and in great condition with some dulling in places as to be expected. The Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece keep everything locked down for solid intonation and incredible sustain. The upgraded Gibson brown hardshell case with pink lining is the perfect complement to this axe—clean, classy, and built like a tank.
We’ve set this one up with 9-42 strings and a super fast, low action, so it plays like an absolute dream. Like we said, It’s resonant and lively unplugged, and when plugged in, it’s pure LP magic!
