Wow—this one is crazy good. Here we have a 2017 Fender USA American Special Telecaster in Lake Placid Blue, fully upgraded with absolute top-shelf components and housed in a brand new Fender tweed hardcase. This is a no-compromise, pro-level build that punches way above its weight—custom shop tone and feel, without the custom shop price tag. One careful, smoke-free owner since new, and it shows.
The upgrades on this guitar are no joke. In the neck, you’ve got a Lollar Imperial Low Wind humbucker—tight, articulate, and dripping with vintage warmth. In the bridge, a Lollar Vintage T single coil, delivering all the punch, clarity, and shimmer a proper Tele should, minus the harsh top end. The pairing is perfectly matched, giving you sweet cleans, gritty edge-of-breakup tones, and big responsive gain tones that stay clear and dynamic.
The electronics are all best-in-class. It’s got CTS 250k G-taper pots, full vintage cloth wiring, a TonePros output jack, a reverse control plate for fast volume and tone swells, and a lush-sounding Emerson Paper in Oil 0.047μF capacitor and tone bleed—all wired up cleanly and professionally. Nothing cheap, nothing stock—every part was chosen for tone and feel.
The Lake Placid Blue finish is classic and vibrant, and the condition is exceptional—solid 9.5/10. There’s one small 10mm indent near the input jack and some very faint top-layer swirling in the clear coat from handling, but that’s it. No cracks, no buckle rash, no fret wear. It’s clean, crisp, and lightly played.
The neck is Fender’s modern C profile with a satin back that feels broken-in and effortless. The rosewood fingerboard is notably dark and rich—almost ebony-like in appearance—and the fretwork is flawless. The frets have just been dressed and polished to a high shine and feel smooth under the fingers. It’s currently set up with 10-gauge strings and plays like creamy butter—low, loose, and ultra-fast across the board. The nut has been upgraded to bone for better sustain, clarity, and feel, and the truss rod adjusts smoothly with no issues.
