Here we have a Glas Customs Tele-style build inspired by one of the rarest Fender Telecasters of the early 1960s — the ultra-limited translucent red ‘63 Custom, originally made from Korina in tiny numbers (likely fewer than 50). Ours is a tonal and visual tribute to that elusive legend, rebuilt with early-'60s spec Fender USA parts, and given the full Glas Customs boutique treatment. It’s part of the GG Fall 2025 “Golden Era” collection — every detail aged, voiced, and assembled by hand in Los Angeles.

The body is genuine Fender USA alder, cut to vintage ‘60s specs and finished in UV-aged, freeze-cracked translucent red nitro. It wears decades of honest-looking wear and lacquer checking, and features our Glas Guitars LA brand stamp on the rear. The vintage curl white pickguard synthetically buckles like the old nitrate ones did, adding to the depth and realism of the relic. The neck joint is ultra-tight — no gaps, no flex — just a dead-perfect press fit that ensures max resonance and long-term stability. All final fit, finish, and assembly is done in-house — no outsourced shortcuts, just hands-on American work.

The neck is genuine Fender USA, carved to a modern C profile with a 9.5" radius and 22 medium jumbo frets. The extra fret gives you more range while keeping a vintage aesthetic — modern functionality with old-school feel. The frets have been crowned, dressed, and polished, and the edges gently rolled. The back of the neck shows a natural play-worn fade, and there’s subtle strum wear right at the butt of the neck — just where your hand would be digging in over decades. Finished by hand in aged nitro. The rosewood fretboard is a rich, dark cut with rolled edges and light relicing that adds to the guitar’s overall character — warm under the fingers and visually aged to match the build. The nut is hand-shaped for precise fit and smooth feel. The truss rod works cleanly in both directions and is properly set for optimal relief. The headstock face has that unmistakable “smoked-out” aged patina that feels like it’s been hanging in a studio for 40 years.

Electronics are full vintage spec with zero compromise. We use a real, vintage 1960 KBG USSR 0.025μF paper-in-oil capacitor — the real deal, not a reissue — paired with CTS 450G 250k pots and vintage-style cloth wiring. A 3-way switch handles selection duties, and tone control is wired in standard Tele fashion — always present on the bridge, as it should be. Grounding is vintage-style and rock-solid.

In the neck position, we’ve installed a Fender Custom Shop Texas Special pickup (measuring approx. 10.9k output) — thick, vocal, and bluesy, with more midrange punch than a traditional Tele neck and a warm rolled-off top end that still cuts in the mix. In the bridge, you’ll find a vintage Fender Hot Rod Telecaster pickup from the 1990s (measuring approx. 14.6k output) — flat pole pieces, hot wind, and serious bite. In our opinion, this is one of the best Tele bridge pickups Fender ever produced — dynamic, punchy, and rich without getting harsh. It matches perfectly with the Texas Special in the neck, creating a powerful and balanced set that covers everything from smoky clean textures to edge-of-breakup grit and full-blown drive. If you like your Teles bold and expressive, this one will deliver.

Hardware includes compensated brass saddles for intonation accuracy, a 54mm-spaced USA bridge (vintage spec), Kluson vintage tuners, and a TonePros 4-point jack for rock-solid connection. The neck plate is a Glas Guitars relic’d signature piece, matching the age and feel of the build from every angle.

Now, we know relics aren’t for everyone — but these builds aren’t trying to be exact museum clones. They’re player-first instruments that riff on the golden era with a purpose: to deliver tone, feel, and aesthetic in equal measure. They take 6 to 9 months to complete, and every detail is handled in-house. From the UV aging to the real nitro checking, hand-shaped nut, and period-correct wiring, these are full-on boutique builds — crafted for the serious player who wants vintage tone without vintage problems.

This one comes in at just 7.4 lbs — lightweight, acoustically resonant, and extremely comfortable on the strap. Set up with 9–42s, it plays like a dream: slinky, fast, and expressive without ever getting stiff or choked.
