Easy now...... Just check this thing out! GLAS custom 1962 relic in Olympic white at a super-light 7.4 lbs, it feels every bit as good as it looks. Finished in beautifully aged Olympic White with a dark rosewood fingerboard and parchment plastics throughout, this Glas Customs Golden Era build takes its cues from the iconic Stratocasters of 1962. It has the unmistakable snap, warmth and broken-in feel of a great pre-CBS Strat, built entirely from brand-new premium components for dependable stage and studio use.
Every Glas Golden Era build begins with genuine Fender components before being carefully upgraded with premium boutique hardware and electronics where we believe they outperform the originals. Each instrument is built completely by hand in Los Angeles over approximately four to six months, with every detail individually relic’d, checked, assembled, wired and professionally set up before leaving our workshop.
Built around a lightweight alder body, this Strat weighs in at an exceptionally light 7.4 lbs and feels beautifully balanced whether standing or sitting. The Olympic White nitro finish features authentic checking, subtle yellowing and natural-looking wear throughout, giving it the character of a guitar that has spent decades on stages while remaining structurally brand new.
As with every Golden Era build, the finish has been extensively UV bombed to accelerate the natural aging process, deepen the color, promote checking and create the subtle ambering associated with decades-old nitro. The result is a finish that looks aged rather than artificially distressed, with its own unique character from top to bottom.
The genuine Fender neck features a dark rosewood fingerboard, period-correct early-’60s decal and our signature Glas branded neck plate, complete with its own unique Glas Guitars serial number.
Like every Golden Era build, the neck pocket is exceptionally tight, maximizing vibration transfer between the neck and body for excellent resonance and sustain.
The neck has a full-feeling ’60s U/C profile, 7.25" fingerboard radius and 21 vintage frets. The rosewood fingerboard edges have been hand rolled, the nut has been hand finished, and the frets have been professionally dressed and polished. The result is a neck that feels comfortably broken-in from the first chord while retaining the unmistakable feel of a proper early-’60s Strat.
Electronics are where this guitar really comes alive.
Loaded with a boutique set of hand-wound Arcane Inc. ’62 pickups, these recreate the bell-like clarity, woody midrange and slightly fuller response associated with the finest early-’60s Stratocasters. Expect glassy neck tones, hollow and expressive in-between positions, and a bridge pickup with the bite, definition and harmonic detail needed to cut through a full band mix.
They’re paired with premium components throughout, including:
- CTS matched 450G potentiometers
- Full vintage cloth wiring
- 5-way pickup selector switch
- Treble tone control modification
- TonePros four-point output jack
- Period-correct 0.1μF paper-in-oil capacitor
- Wired throughout using genuine vintage solder
The treble tone control modification extends useful tone control across the bridge pickup, giving you greater control over the sharpest Strat tones while preserving the traditional layout and feel.
Every connection is carefully soldered, inspected and tested by hand before final assembly, ensuring exceptional reliability while remaining faithful to the spirit of the original instruments.
The chrome hardware has been tastefully relic’d throughout, while the vintage-spec 56mm synchronized tremolo has been professionally decked flat using three springs for improved tuning stability, sustain and a solid feel under the picking hand. The guitar comes complete with its tremolo arm.
The parchment pickguard, pickup covers, knobs and switch tip work perfectly against the Olympic White finish, creating a clean, understated and unmistakably early-’60s look.
The guitar is professionally set up with 9–42 strings, low action and accurate intonation. At just 7.4 lbs, it feels lively and effortless in the hands, rings beautifully unplugged and plays like hot butter.
Now — relics aren’t for everyone. But these builds aren’t museum clones. They’re made to riff on the golden era with purpose: vintage tone, old-school look, and high-performance reliability. Every piece is assembled by hand, every detail reviewed and tested before it leaves our shop. From the UV-bombed finish to the checking, wiring, nut work, and play feel — this is a boutique-grade Strat made for serious stage and studio work.
