Here we have a rare 2006 Fender American Series FSR Telecaster in Crimson Red Transparent with a striking factory black-painted headstock — a one-year-only Guitar Center exclusive, released as part of Fender’s 60th Anniversary celebrations. This is an exceptionally rare Factory Special Run: only 500 guitars were produced, and it was built for just 12 months before being quietly discontinued. You won’t find many out there, especially in this kind of condition.
Constructed with a chambered mahogany body, this model blends classic Fender snap with a warmer, more resonant voice that sets it apart from your typical alder-bodied Telecaster. Lively and open acoustically, it’s a fantastic match for clean tones, edge-of-breakup crunch, and anything pedal-driven.
Visually, this thing is a stunner. The Crimson Red Transparent finish lets the grain pop beneath a deep, glassy poly topcoat. The 3-ply black/white/black pickguard, black plastics, and gloss black-painted headstock give it a sleek, custom-shop edge — a look never offered outside this FSR run.
The neck is Fender’s modern “C” profile with a smooth satin finish and a dark rosewood fingerboard. It plays effortlessly with a low setup, with fully dressed and polished frets. The fingerboard radius is 9.5”, paired with 22 medium jumbo frets and a 1.6875” nut. The truss rod is responsive, and the neck is straight with perfect relief. Action is fast and clean up and down the board.
Electronics are original with only the bridge pickup being upgraded to the now discontinued Fender Original Vintage Telecaster 50's series. Great alnico 3 vintage spec pickup almost like the precursor to the 51' they do now. You’ve got the classic 3-way blade switch controlling the 2- not Noiseless, but these traditional alnico-style units have plenty of bite and dynamic response. The Delta Tone system includes a a no-load tone control at position 10 for extra clarity and openness when wide open. This combo is dynamite, and really works beautifully with this guitars acoustic tambura.
Hardware is all factory stock and in excellent condition. Chrome Fender/Schaller locking tuners up top, and a six-saddle American Tele bridge with chromed brass saddles round out the setup. Feather light weight comes in at only 7 lbs thanks to the chambered body — a great balance between comfort and sustain.
Cosmetically, the guitar is in near mint condition with only the faintest signs of handling. Few very small dings, no buckle rash, no edge wear. the fender decal has faded a little- but it looks super cool. The finish is vibrant and clean with excellent grain detail. Frets are polished, board is dark and smooth, and everything is clean from top to tail. A beautifully preserved example. Would say a 9/10 for condition.

This Tele plays beautifully and sounds killer. Set up with 10s, she’s low, lively, and fast — just how we like ’em. The chambered mahogany gives it depth and warmth, while the pickups retain all the cut and clarity a proper Tele should deliver. It rings loud acoustically and barks like hell when plugged in.
